Golden Eagle Welcome Week (GEWW) takes place directly before the start of the fall semester and is meant to help new students transition to campus before classes begin. During GEWW, students will be divided into small groups with their assigned GEWW Crew Leader. You will learn more about Southern Miss spirit and traditions, campus life, and student resources. We'll also host an involvement fair so you can connect with the student organizations that interest you, and session rotations to learn more about opportunities to connect on and off campus.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council was established in 1930 at Howard University as a national coordinating body for the nine historically African American fraternities and sororities which had evolved on American college and university campuses. Blatant racism prevented many African American students on historically white campuses from joining fraternities and sororities. African Americans were denied admittance to large numbers of campuses which still prohibited blacks from attending. Therefore, African American students on both types of campuses established fraternities and sororities to enhance their college experiences. These organizations did not then nor do they now restrict membership to African Americans.

The primary mission of this community is to develop learning focused, connected, and healthy individuals through competition, community, and Esports experiences while preparing students for post-graduation with non-competitive industry training in their chosen field of study.

Becoming a member of the Esports program requires you to be a student at the University of Southern Mississippi. There is no cost associated with membership. We have 3 tiers of student engagement:

1. Signed Student-Athletes - Official Teams

Students who have signed as student-athletes to compete in official conferences, like the Sunbelt Conference, National Association of Collegiate Esports, and the National Esports Competition Conference

2. Program Teams

Students who are not signed as student-athletes, but compete in official conferences as developing teams

3. Gaming Club Members

This gaming community is meant for all gamers to experience fun events, conventions, and multi-club collaborations with a gaming twist
