Potential members must have completed at least 3 semesters or 5 quarters of health preprofessional studies work with an overall cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale (A = 4.00) and also with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 in the sciences – biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.

Alpha Psi Omega (ΑΨΩ) is the largest national honor society for collegiate theatre participants, with over 600 active chapters across the United States. Founded in the early 20th century in response to the growing interest in dramatic arts at colleges and universities, its mission is to encourage and recognize excellence in theatrical production throughout a student’s academic journey.

The mission of ACS is to cultivate a positive environment and community in which STEM and non-STEM students alike can learn more about chemistry and find opportunities to get involved in our community. With the reputation of the physical sciences as being intimidating and difficult, our priority is to make chemistry more accessible and exciting to USM students by curating events that are designed to help educate as much as entertain. Through our STEM outreach events, we also work with local elementary schools to help instill an interest in chemistry at a young age, with the hope of helping encourage the next generation of scientists.

In 2022, a generous donor allocated $100,000 to be in a student-managed investment portfolio, and after working out policies, procedures, and structures over the past year, we are finally having in-person meetings this fall!

A little bit about us and how the Investment Portfolio works:

Throughout the semester, we have bi-weekly meetings with guest speakers discussing topics such as investing strategies, what to look for in a potential investment, monitoring the market, etc. Our investment fund is not intended to be a “cash cow” with instant profits, but it is instead aimed at long-term growth and success, as it is ultimately an educational tool for students to get started with investing.

As well as receiving insight from our guest speakers, members will monitor the market with a mock portfolio on Investopedia, and at the end of the semester, the student(s) have the opportunity to make a formal investment pitch to our external board of advisors. If the pitch is approved, the investment will be purchased! This is truly a great opportunity for our Southern Miss students, and we cannot wait to get started.

The Student Health Coalition (SHC) is a medical student run organization at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Our purpose is to address health inequities by providing free blood pressure, blood glucose, BMI, and pre-diabetes screenings throughout the state of Mississippi. In addition, we also address food insecurity with our nutrition resource team and Dollar General Diner cookbook. Since its founding in June of 2022, we have gone to 47 different counties and screened over 4,500 individuals. To continue expanding our reach across the state, college ambassador groups have been established at Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and USM. These programs address health inequities and food insecurity in their respective college towns. For the 2025-2026 academic year, the USM ambassadors will host bi-annual free health screening events in Hattiesburg and fundraise for Edwards Street Fellowship Center.

Our organization provides cash scholarships for member engagement and service on a yearly basis. We are a free organization to join and are always accepting new members.

At Young Americans for Liberty at The University of Southern Mississippi, we are dedicated to promoting the principles of libertarianism by empowering students to exercise their rights and freedoms. Our mission is to foster a campus environment that values individual liberty, free speech, and personal responsibility. We advocate for the protection of student rights, ensuring that every voice is heard and respected. Through education, activism, and open dialogue, we strive to create a community that champions the ideals of limited government and personal autonomy, preparing the next generation of leaders to defend and uphold the freedoms that are fundamental to our society.
