Golden Eagle Welcome Week (GEWW) takes place directly before the start of the fall semester and is meant to help new students transition to campus before classes begin. During GEWW, students will be divided into small groups with their assigned GEWW Crew Leader. You will learn more about Southern Miss spirit and traditions, campus life, and student resources. We'll also host an involvement fair so you can connect with the student organizations that interest you, and session rotations to learn more about opportunities to connect on and off campus.

Our program focuses on leadership and workforce development. Our scholars have access to a personalized program tailored to help them make strategic choices during their time at Southern Miss.

Membership Benefits
- Scholars receive a $2,000 annual scholarship
- Campus employment with the Office of Undergraduate Scholarships provided for work-study eligible scholars (will pay out up to the max amount
awarded in SOAR)
- Individualized career and financial coaching through mentorship
- Leadership opportunities provided to upperclassmen within the program

Members will be invited by the program Advisor after final selection.

The primary mission of this community is to develop learning focused, connected, and healthy individuals through competition, community, and Esports experiences while preparing students for post-graduation with non-competitive industry training in their chosen field of study.

Becoming a member of the Esports program requires you to be a student at the University of Southern Mississippi. There is no cost associated with membership. We have 3 tiers of student engagement:

1. Signed Student-Athletes - Official Teams

Students who have signed as student-athletes to compete in official conferences, like the Sunbelt Conference, National Association of Collegiate Esports, and the National Esports Competition Conference

2. Program Teams

Students who are not signed as student-athletes, but compete in official conferences as developing teams

3. Gaming Club Members

This gaming community is meant for all gamers to experience fun events, conventions, and multi-club collaborations with a gaming twist
