Mehndi Night

The Mock Mehndi Night is a cultural engagement event designed to celebrate South Asian traditions while fostering cross-cultural understanding on campus. With approximately 800 South Asian students at the University of Southern Mississippi, the event serves a significant student population while intentionally welcoming students from all cultural backgrounds.

Through music, décor, traditional attire, and interactive experiences such as henna, non–South Asian students gain direct exposure to South Asian culture in an accessible and engaging setting, while South Asian students see their identities represented and valued. This shared experience helps bridge cultural gaps, promotes inclusivity, and strengthens a sense of belonging across the campus community.
